Turut hadir bersama Wabup Meranti, anggota DPRD Meranti, Hatta, Sekretaris Daerah (Sekda) Kepulauan Meranti, H. Yulian Norwis, SE.MM beserta istri, Asisten III Sekdakab Meranti, H. Rosdaner, S.Pd, Perwakilan Koramil Selatpanjang, Lakatang, Kadis Pariwisata Meranti, Rizki Hidayat, Kadis Sosial Meranti, Agusyanto, Kabag Perbatasan Sekda Meranti, Widodo, Kabag Humas dan Protokol Meranti, Perwakilan Perbankan, pihak sponsor dan komponen lainnya.
Wakil Bupati (Wabup) Kepulauan Meranti, H. Said Hasyim dalam sambutannya mengucapkan apresiasi yang tinggi kepada masyarakat Meranti meski kondisi cuaca kurang bersahabat karena di guyur hujan gerimis namun tak menyurutkan semangat warga yang membanjiri jalan Selatpanjang bersama-sama Pemerintah Daerah mengikuti gerak jalan santai sempena HUT Meranti Ke-11 Tahun 2019.
Ia pun berharap dengan semangat itu akan semakin menambah kekompakan, keamanan dan ketentraman ditengah masyarakat demi Meranti yang semakin jaya dimasa-masa yang akan datang.
Lebuh jauh orang nomor dua di Kota Sagu itu menuturkan, untuk merayakan HUT Meranti tahun ini, Pemerintah Daerah menggelar berbagai kegiatan mulai dari Pertandingan Olahraga, Bakti Sosial, Parade Budaya, Kenduri Sekampung hingga malam hiburan rakyat. Untuk itu Wabup mengajak seluruh lapisan masyarakat baik yang tua maupun muda untuk bersama-sama merayakan kegiatan tersebut yang pada dasarnya dari rakyat, karena rakyat dan untuk rakyat.
“Dan puncak kemeriahan HUT Meranti tahun ini adalah Kenduri Sekampung dan Hiburan Rakyat yang dipusatkan di Halaman Kantor Bupati Meranti pada 19 Desember 2019 mendatang, untuk itu kami dari Pemerintah Daerah mengajak masyarakat bersama-sama hadir memeriahkannya,” ajak Wabup.
Selanjutnya melalui berbagai kegiatan itu Wabup berharap dapat menjadi ajang silahturahmi yang mampu mempererat rasa persatuan dan kesatuan seluruh masyarakat Meranti bersama pemerintah daerah. Dengan terciptanya sinergitas dan dukungan masyarakat diyakini semua program-program pemerintah dalam menggesa pembangunan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat akan dapat terwujud dengan baik.
Setelah dilepas oleh Wabup Meranti H. Said Hasyim, ribuan peserta gerak jalan santai yang tumpah ruah baik tua maupun muda hingga anak-anak langsung berjalan melewati jalan Protokol Selatpanjang. Mulai dari Jalan Merdeka menuju jalan Imam Bonjol, lalu ke Jalan Kartini, dilanjutkan ke jalan Diponegoro dan kembali kelokasi acara jalan Merdeka Selatpanjang.
Kegiatan itu semakin meriah karena bagi peserta yang beruntung panitia menyediakan puluhan Doorprize dan hadiah menarik. Mulai dari hadiah hiburan, Kulkas, Mesin Cuci, Sepeda, dan sebagai hadiah utama 3 unit sepeda motor sumbangan dari seluruh OPD yang ada dan partisipasi pihak Perusahaan swasta di Kepulauan Meranti.
