Penelitian: Mengurangi Nonton TV Bisa Membuat Jantung Lebih Sehat

Pesisir Nasional – Jika ingin terhindar dari penyakit jantung atau kardiovaskular, lebih baik kurangi menonton televisi dan perbanyak sarapan dengan makanan sehat.

Penelitian terbaru menemukan, orang-orang yang menghabiskan lebih sedikit waktu menonton TV dan secara teratur makan sarapan yang kaya energi menunjukkan lebih sedikit plak dan kekakuan di arteri mereka.

Penelitian yang dipublikasikan American College of Cardiology menyimpulkan orang-orang ini kemungkinan lebih rendah risikonya terkena kardiovaskular dan stroke.

Para peneliti melihat hubungan kesehatan jantung dengan faktor paparan lingkungan dan faktor gaya hidup pada 2.000 orang yang tinggal di Corinthia, Yunani.

Pada bagian pertama penelitian, para peneliti membagi peserta menjadi tiga kelompok sesuai dengan jumlah jam yang dihabiskan menonton televisi atau video setiap minggu. Kelompok pertama yang menonton televisi 7 jam atau lebih sedikit, kelompok kedua 7 hingga 21 jam, dan lebih dari 21 jam.

Setelah memperhitungkan faktor risiko kardiovaskular dan status penyakit jantung, para peneliti menemukan mereka yang menonton TV paling banyak per minggu hampir dua kali lebih mungkin mengalami penumpukan plak di arteri.

“Hasil kami menekankan pentingnya menghindari periode perilaku menetap yang berkepanjangan. Temuan ini menyarankan pesan yang jelas untuk menekan tombol ‘mati’ di TV Anda dan meninggalkan sofa Anda. Dibandingkan dengan mereka yang menonton TV kurang dari 7 jam per minggu, mereka yang menonton lebih dari 21 jam per minggu berisiko 68 persen lebih mungkin memiliki tekanan darah tinggi dan 50 persen lebih mungkin untuk menderita diabetes.

“Karena hasil kami menekankan manfaat klinis dari aktivitas pengeluaran energi rendah, melakukan aktivitas rekreasi, angkat berat, peregangan badan atau latihan treadmill sambil menonton TV mungkin merupakan alternatif yang sehat,” kata Tsalamandris.

Pada bagian kedua penelitian, peserta dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok berdasarkan berapa banyak asupan kalori harian mereka dari sarapan: berenergi tinggi, berenergi rendah dan mereka yang melewatkan sarapan. Secara total, sekitar 240 orang melaporkan sarapan berenergi tinggi, hampir 900 makan sarapan berenergi rendah dan sekitar 680 melewatkan sarapan.

Makanan sarapan yang biasa dimakan oleh mereka yang termasuk dalam kelompok energi tinggi termasuk susu, keju, sereal, roti, dan madu. Sarapan untuk mereka yang berada dalam kelompok energi rendah biasanya termasuk kopi atau susu rendah lemak bersama dengan roti dengan mentega, madu, zaitun atau buah.

Dilansir Science Daily, para peneliti menemukan mereka yang makan sarapan berenergi tinggi cenderung memiliki arteri yang secara signifikan lebih sehat daripada mereka yang makan sedikit atau tidak sarapan sama sekali.
