Singgung Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan Belum Berencana Pensiun

Pesisirnasional- Lin Dan sempat memberikan komentarnya terkait progres kesehatan rivalnya, Lee Chong Wei, di sela-sela

perhelatan Malaysia Open 2019.

Sebelumnya, Lin Dan mampu meneruskan langkahnya menuju babak kedua Malaysia Open 2019 melalui perjuangan luar biasa.

Tunggal putra asal China itu berhasil menaklukkan unggulan ketiga asal Taiwan, Chou Tien Chen, dalam pertarungan tiga gim,

13-21, 21-19, dan 21-19.

Hasil yang diraih Lin Dan itu tentu di luar ekspektasi banyak pihak.

Pasalnya, dalam beberapa turnamen terakhir yang diikuti, Lin Dan cenderung sering kandas pada babak pertama.

Apalagi, lawan yang dihadapinya pada babak pertama Malaysia Open 2019 tersebut adalah seorang pemain dengan status unggulan.

Kendati prestasi dan performa Lin Dan sempat dirumorkan mulai menurun, pemain 35 tahun ini justru mengisyaratkan hal

sebaliknya.

Selepas pertandingan tersebut, dilansir BolaSport.com dari Nst.com.my, Lin Dan menyatakan masih ingin bermain meskipun

usianya jauh dari kata muda lagi.

“Saya ingin menantang diri saya sendiri. Saya rasa tidak ada pemain yang mau melakukan hal sejauh ini dan bermain pada level

ini,” ujar Lin.

Peraih dua medali emas Olimpiade tersebut bahkan juga mengisyaratkan hal lain.

Suami dari Xie Xin Fang ini sempat berandai-andai jika sesuatu terjadi pada dirinya, seperti cedera atau sakit (parah), dia

mungkin akan pensiun.

“Saya sangat bersyukur karena saya tidak sedang kena cedera ataupun sakit,” kata Lin Dan.

“Jika saya sampai mengalami itu, kemungkinan besar saya mungkin akan pensiun,” tuturnya melanjutkan.

Pernyataan Lin Dan itu seolah merujuk pada sang “musuh bebuyutan”, Lee Chong Wei, (Malaysia), yang saat ini masih belum

comeback pasca-operasi kanker hidung.

Rencana comeback Lee Chong Wei sendiri sudah dua kali tertunda, yakni pada All England Open 2019 dan Malaysia Open 2019.

Meski demikian, Lin Dan mengisyaratkan bahwa dia tidak akan pensiun selama Lee Chong Wei juga belum melakukan hal yang sama.

“Mungkin saja kami berdua nanti bisa lolos dan berkompetisi pada Olimpiade tahun depan,” ucap dia.

“Karena Chong Wei belum menggantung raketnya, saya mungkin juga akan terus bermain,” kata Lin Dan.
