tubuh ini kerap kali terlewat, atau baru teringat jika harus diwarnai atau diberi hiasan. Merawat kuku jari tangan dan kaki

mencegah pinggiran menjadi bergerigi atau terlalu panjang.

Salah satu cara merawat kuku adalah dengan memotongnya secara teratur. Kuku yang terlalu panjang menimbulkan rasa tidak

nyaman, berisiko bergerigi, dan tidak bisa melindungi ujung jari yang merupakan salah satu bagian tubuh paling sensitif

dengan baik.

Dikutip dari HowStuffWorks, jadwal pada tiap orang tidak sama namun umumnya kuku jari tangan lebih cepat tumbuh daripada

kaki. Artinya, kuku jari tangan lebih sering dipotong dibanding kaki. Kuku jari manis dan tengah di tangan kiri dan kanan

umumnya lebih cepat tumbuh dibanding tiga jari lainnya. Secara umum, kuku di jari yang lebih sering digunakan akan lebih

cepat tumbuh.

Rata-rata kuku jari tangan tumbuh sekitar 0,004 inchi atau 0,1 millimeter setiap hari. Dengan kecepatan tumbuh tersebut,

seseorang sedikitnya potong kuku satu kali dalam seminggu. Namun seperti disebutkan sebelumnya, jadwal potong kuku bergantung

seberapa sering menggunakan jari dan jenis kegiatan yang dilakukan. Seorang mekanik atau pemain alat musik gesek mungkin

lebih suka kuku pendek untuk memudahkan tugasnya, sehingga lebih sering potong kuku. Sedangkan pegawai salon mungkin ingin

kuku lebih panjang supaya mudah dihias.

Terlepas dari kegiatan sehari-hari, pastikan untuk merawat dan potong kuku secara teratur hingga jadi kebiasaan. Sebelum

potong kuku, gunting harus bersih dan tajam sehingga hasilnya bisa rapi. Setelah dipotong, jangan lupa membersihkan ujung

jari dan menghaluskan bagian yang kasar. Kuku yang pendek dan bersih tidak mudah retak, nyangkut di baju, dan melindungi

ujung jari dengan baik.
